1 Month Baby
Your wonderful baby who is now one month old.
He was your special ‘bundle of joy’, when he was first born, appearing a bit fragile and vulnerable at first, ever so new and ever so wonderful. And now, a just a month further down the line, he has changed and developed into this amazing, gurgling and fascinating one month old baby!
Development of your one month old baby.
While mom and dads pride and joy increases by the day, there are also a number of other things that they need to learn, specifically regarding changes in development of your 1 month baby as he is now, and how he will be. When your baby was born, he was indeed, fragile. Having been forced out of a safe and secure womb, which had occupied and enjoyed, he was then, quite suddenly thrust into another world that he was still ill prepared to handle.
In fact, it was more than likely that he was probably somewhat overwhelmed by the very fact that he was out in the open. It is a quite ‘reasonable’, reaction when you think clearly how much a traumatic change the transition from fetus to baby is. Because of this, he adopted counter measures it in the only way he knows how, by adopting the ‘fetal position’ and shutting out the world and its interferences.
He is now recognizing his world.
But now, as a one month old baby, he is much better prepared to handle the world and all she has to offer. He has breathed in lungs full of fresh, air, for a month now and is gradually beginning to learn about and get used to the many varied sights, smells and sounds that constitutes the world he now occupies.
The one month old baby is slowly developing the realization that he has an entire world out there around him, and that he himself is just a small, yet increasingly important part the world. And he is able to expresses this knowledge in several different ways.
Learning about his world, even at one month old.
There are wonderful recognition signs in the eyes of the one month baby when he looks at his or her parents, sees other familiar family friends and other people who he encounters throughout his day and if you notice and observe his every action. He is slowly and steadily beginning to recognize the faces and features of these people who surround him. And this vital recognition begins to manifest itself, as smiles and even frowns.
In touch, with his arms and legs!
The other important thing that the one month baby soon discovers for himself is that he has some thing known as ‘appendages’. When he was first born, he had no idea that his limbs were linked to his body that could move on their own. But the gradual familiarization with the world, allows him to recognize the fact that he has limbs, which he is able to control and begin to co-ordinate and then to actually move them around and most importantly to use them to explore the limitations of his world.
The world sucks, but not for baby!
More than ever, the one month old baby needs lots of TLC. ‘tender loving care’. Because for instance he learns to suckle on a teat to extract his nourishment in the form of milk, he quickly realizes that this sucking action is a most soothing and satisfying one. He will continue to suck at anything and everything that comes within his grasp or his toothless gums. Sucking not only strengthens the muscles around his mouth, but also prepares and conditions his jaw bones and other facial muscles that he will need and use later in life.
Celebrate your baby.
In conclusion there is no limit to the amount of information being processed by the ‘one month baby’, from the first few weeks of almost semi-consciousness because he was asleep so long to the rapidly growing awareness, that will make him the character he will become. Celebrate the fact that he will never be one month old again and enjoy your baby!
