It’s natural that everyone gets excited when there is a new baby on the way, and a baby shower is a fun event that families really look forward to. When a new mom is planning and preparing for a baby, she appreciates the help and support of her family and friends. If you are throwing a baby shower for someone, you have a lot to think about, and a rather long shopping list. You need baby shower decorations, favors, food, a gift, and a list of fun games.

Deciding on baby shower decorations is a lot of fun. What you buy may depend a lot on whether the expectant mom knows the sex of her unborn baby or not. Whether the mom knows the sex of the baby or not, will not only determine the type of baby shower decorations you buy, it will also determine the gift and favors you buy as well.

When the mom knows if she is having a boy or a girl, you can buy baby shower decorations in the traditional colors. People buy blue for boys and pink for girls, but you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. When my sister was getting ready to go to her baby shower, I can remember her saying that even though she knew she was having a girl, she hoped there wouldn’t be to much pink around.  She really didn’t particularly like the color pink. So even if the mom and you knows what she’s having, make sure you aren’t using a color she abhors.

So you don’t have to go for a particular color when buying baby shower decorations. A good approach could be to go with a ‘theme’ instead. Some people go with ‘storks’, or ‘heart’, and others will go for flowers, or smilie, faces. It’s entirely up to you, and you know the mom best, so keep her tastes very much in mind, besides, if the mom doesn’t know the sex of her unborn baby yet, you can’t really choose to go with blue or pink anyway. You can use ‘both’, and be at least half right, but that is up to your choice.

Don’t forget to also get the games and other items you need while shopping. Look for discounts, there are some great savings to be made and don’t forget to search through eBay for some great deals.  You will even find ideas that you hadn’t even previously thought of by searching the Internet. You can never tell just what you are going to find until you take a look.
